Town Hall 9

On this page of our guide, we will show you several Town Hall 9 army compositions that can be used for farming, during wars and for gaining trophies.

There’s a lot of different army compositions that a player can create in the game. Our recommendations are based on what we feel is the best army to use for each situation. Personal preference may differ from our recommendations. Feel free to contact us if you feel you’ve found a better army composition for this level.

TH9 Farming Army

A farming army is designed for gaining resources quickly. The army is built in a short amount of time and it doesn’t take a lot of resources to make. The trade off to these benefits is that the army will not be as strong as other compositions.

  • 8 Giants
  • 8 Wall Breakers
  • 82 Barbarians
  • 82 Archers
  • 2 Rage Spells
  • 2 Healing Spells

GiBarch or just plan Barch (without the Giants) will be your main Town Hall 9 farming army. We suggest adding Giants into the composition because it will let you attack stronger bases without spending too much extra on building your army.

The Clan Castle can be filled with just about any troop. High DPS units will work best because you can use your Giants as a tank to protect them. Wizards, Archers and Barbarians are great choices to fill your Clan Castle when you’re using it frequently for farming.

TH9 War and Trophy Army

The goal of a war and trophy army is to win an attack against strong opponents. The army takes longer to build but is significantly stronger than a farming army. This type of army is used when getting 3 stars is very important.

  • 2 Golems
  • 8 Wall Breakers
  • 3 Pekkas
  • 17 Wizards
  • 1 Barbarian
  • 2 Rage Spells
  • 1 Healing Spell
  • 1 Jump Spell
  • 1 Poison Spell

GoWiPe is a great ground army at Town Hall 9. It’s extremely powerful and is an easy way to get 2 stars on most bases. The army works best when all of your troops are max level but there are ways to modify it. If your Golems are not maxed you will need to bring an additional one in your Clan Castle. You’ll bring Wizards instead if your Golems are max level.

One or two Hog Riders make a great addition to the army if you’re unable to lure the Clan Castle troops out from an opponent’s base. You can add them to the army by taking away a few of the Wizards.

  • 2 Golems
  • 10 Wizards
  • 4 Wall Breakers
  • 22 Hog Riders
  • 2 Barbarians
  • 2 Healing Spells
  • 1 Rage Spell
  • 3 Earthquake Spell

Some bases are designed to make it very difficult for a player to attack them with GoWiPe. The bases are designed to be very large with lots of space between the buildings. Golems are slow and they’ll have a hard time keeping up with your other troops. GoHo is a great substitute for GoWiPe when you come across a base like this. GoHo has higher maneuverability than GoWiPe and if done correctly you can 3 star an opponent as opposed to 2 stars with GoWiPe.

You’ll want to request 1 Golem and 1 Earthquake spell for your Clan Castle.

GoHo consists of two small attacks. The first attack is called the kill squad. The army is made up of Golems, Heroes and Wizards. The kill squads primary purpose is to kill your opponent’s Archer Queen, trigger the Clan Castle and detonate as many potential double Giant Bombs as possible. If your kill squad did their job successfully you’ll now be able to send in the Hog Riders to clean up the base. Here’s a great video walking you through an attack.
